College Soccer Special: James Madison at William & Mary (Men)
James Madison is taking on William and Mary in men’s action on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. ET on the College Soccer Special. In what is set to be James Madison’s last competition of the year and William and Mary’s final regular season game before heading into the postseason, you can be sure that both teams are playing to win.
James Madison (9-6-1, 6-1) went from two consecutive wins to a pair of consecutive losses entering the match against William and Mary. In their last outing and last home competition of the season the Dukes fell to Georgia Southern in a 2-1 loss.
Head coach Tom Martin, in his 28th season, has certainly found a gem in junior forward Josh Grant. Grant has put seven in the back of the net for the Dukes this year, including the squad’s lone goal against Georgia Southern. Grant has been the only James Madison player to record multiple shots on goal in each of the last three games, scoring in two out of the three competitions.
In his 22nd season leading the charge at William and Mary, head coach Chris Norris is readying his team to go into post season play. The Tribe (8-4-2, 3-2-1) have had a solid showing this season with their most notable win coming in the form of a 3-2 double overtime win against top 25 staple Creighton.
The Tribe has stumbled recently leading up to this match, coming off a 3-1 loss to Delaware and a 2-2 draw with UNCW. William and Mary will look to junior Josh West and sophomore Jackson Eskay to lead the Tribe to victory against James Madison. With both forwards tallying a goal in the Tribe’s 2-2 draw, West brings his total to six goals with one assist while Eskay now has five goals and five assists for 15 points on the year.
James Madison leads the series 21-18-8 all-time, with the Dukes edging out the Tribe in the squads’ last meeting 1-0.
